Build Connections & Find Community in Your ADHD Journey
This 4-week group offers a safe, supportive space for women to share their
experiences, reflections, and ideas about living with ADHD. Each 90-minute session
blends psychoeducation, supportive conversation, and reflective activities. Together,
we’ll explore how ADHD uniquely affects women’s lives and build strategies for focus,
emotional regulation, boundaries, and self-compassion. Whether you were recently
diagnosed or have long suspected your brain works differently, this group meets you
where you are—with understanding, tools, and community.
Week 1: Understanding ADHD in Women
Learn how ADHD can look and feel different in women, especially around emotions,
relationships, and daily responsibilities. We’ll explore how gender roles and masking
affect diagnosis and self-perception and begin to gently reflect on how ADHD shows up
in your life. You’ll leave with a clearer understanding of your experiences and access to
supportive resources.
Week 2: Strategies for Daily Life
This session offers practical tools to help you manage overwhelm, focus, and executive
functioning. We’ll explore a range of strategies—including lifestyle supports, therapy,
medication, and organizational tools—so you can build a personalized toolkit that works
for your brain. You’ll leave with ideas and encouragement to experiment without
pressure.
Week 3: Boundaries, Assertiveness & Self-Esteem
Women with ADHD often struggle with people-pleasing, saying no, or navigating
emotional sensitivity. This week, we’ll explore how ADHD can affect your sense of self
and relationships. You’ll learn about setting boundaries, building assertiveness, and
reframing limiting beliefs—gently shifting away from shame and toward self-respect.
Week 4: Self-Compassion & Integration
Our final session will explore how self-compassion can support emotional regulation
and resilience. Through guided reflection and a simple self-compassion practice, you’ll
reconnect with your inner voice and celebrate your progress. We’ll also review key
insights and leave space to acknowledge your journey in this group.
Common Questions
What is a support group?
Support groups are made up of people who share common challenges. These groups are focused on providing education, resources and tools, with the overall goal of helping you to cope. They provide a safe place for you to express your thoughts and feelings, and to share your experiences if you feel comfortable. Groups often provide reassurance and encouragement. There’s something truly unique about surrounding yourself with others who are experiencing similar challenges as you. Group members often walk away feeling stronger, more capable and hopeful about managing the difficulties that brought them to the group.
Do I have to be a client at Women's Mental Health to attend the group?
Everyone is welcome! You do not need to be a current client in order to join any of the groups we offer.
Is everything talked about confidential?
Confidentiality is a key to the effectiveness of the counselling process, so the personal information you share in counselling will be kept confidential. There are, however, some exceptions to the counsellor’s duty of confidentiality: if there is a concern of imminent harm to you or another (e.g., threats of suicide or homicide), if a child is in need of protection (e.g., abuse, neglect, exposure to domestic violence) or if your file has been subpoenaed for a court case.
