Frequently asked questions

Everything you need to know about our low-cost counselling program.

A practicum counsellor is a student in the final stage of their Master's degree, requiring a minimum number of direct counselling hours to graduate.

An intern counsellor has already completed their Master's degree and is working on accumulating additional clinical hours in order to register with a professional association.

Absolutely. We maintain high standards when selecting students for our practicum program. Students must not only exhibit a strong academic foundation, but also demonstrate relevant life experience and professional expertise.

Once accepted into our program, each practicum counsellor receives continuous supervision and guidance from our experienced supervision team, ensuring professional, high-quality care.

Unfortunately, low-cost counselling sessions are typically not eligible for reimbursement through extended health benefits. Most benefits providers require the services to be provided by a licensed professional, such as a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC), Registered Social Worker (RSW), or Canadian Certified Counsellor (CCC), to qualify for coverage. If you're unsure about your coverage, we recommend checking with your benefits provider for specific details.
