What is stress?
Stress is a natural response to life’s demands and pressures. It becomes a concern when it feels constant or unrelenting, making it hard for your mind and body to fully rest. You might notice symptoms like racing thoughts, physical tension, irritability, or difficulty switching off. Many people also carry a significant “mental load,” managing work, home, and emotional responsibilities, which can create a steady sense of overwhelm over time.
Stress is different from burnout. Stress is the ongoing pressure and activation your system is responding to, while burnout is what can happen when those demands continue for too long without enough recovery. Addressing stress early can help reduce overwhelm, support regulation, and prevent longer-term exhaustion.
Therapy for stress
We use a range of evidence-based approaches to help you better understand and manage stress and overwhelm. Your therapist will work collaboratively with you to support nervous system regulation, build coping strategies, and strengthen your capacity for resilience over time.

Somatic Therapy
Somatic therapy helps you tune into and regulate how stress and emotion are held in the body, using techniques like breathwork, grounding, and gentle movement to support a sense of calm and safety.

Mindfulness-Based Therapy
Mindfulness-based therapy helps you observe thoughts, emotions, and bodily sensations without judgment, supporting grounding, emotional regulation, and a greater sense of clarity and calm.

Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT)
Compassion-focused therapy helps soften self-criticism and shame by building a kinder, more supportive inner voice and a greater sense of emotional safety and self-acceptance.
